In this season of happiness and love, it’s always necessary to set the mood. There are classic records through the ages that make the quiet dinner for two or the formal social gatherings all the more special, and now there is another to add to the mix.
Love being the common thread, legendary crooner Tony Bennett celebrates 90 years of life surrounded by those who love him best, and the result is a concert of pure gold. In conjunction with a television special, Tony Bennett Celebrates 90 is a showcase of some of Tony’s classics accompanied by an all-star lineup of performers.
A big band explosion begins with a campy rendition of “The Lady is a Tramp,” performed by Lady Gaga who delivers a spot-on Mitzi Green-esque show stopper, and that’s just the beginning.
The smooth-like-butter journey is highlighted by classics such as “The Very Thought of You/If I ruled the Word” with Kevin Spacey; “New York State of Mind” with Billy Joel and “Autumn Leaves” with Leslie Odom. If that wasn’t enough, Stevie Wonder, Andrea Bocelli, k.d lang, Rufus Wainwright and Michael Bublé lend their pipes to welcome Tony’s 90th.
This celebratory album is a classic on top of classic “’’Cause he mixes it with love, and makes the world taste good.”
