90 Years of Parks

Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites is celebrating its 90th anniversary. After reorganizing the State Board of Forestry in 1931, the Georgia State Parks Division was born with two parks — Indian Springs and Vogel.

Today, the division has 84,871 acres of protected state park land and includes 49 state parks, 13 state historic sites, two outdoor recreation or historic areas and 12 partner parks and sites.
